DAY
01 : ARRIVAL JAYAPURA
Arrival by afternoon flight at
Jayapura airport, then transfer to hotel.
DAY
02 : JAYAPURA TOURING
After breakfast, we have a full day
sightseeing tour including Mac Arthur 2nd World War monument, Sentani lake by
boat. Lunch have at Yougwa restaurant near the lake. After lunch, see the
Anthropology museum (open from Monday to Saturday at 09.00-14.00), then Hamadi
market & Jayapura city. Afternoon back to hotel for overnight.
DAY
03 : JAYAPURA - WAMENA – SOGOKMO – WUSEREM (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel, then fly to
Wamena. Arrival at Wamena, then drive to Sogokmo. Arrival in Sogokmo, then
together withr porter team, walk to Wuserem village. We will be passing through
the Dani garden and compound, crossing some small rivers, meet the local
peoples at work. The walk today will be about 5 - 6 hours. Arrival at
Wuserem in the afternoon, then stay at the local house. Wuserem lies on the
highland, a high mountain on it’s back , and 2 small rivers nearby the village.
DAY 04 : WUSEREM – PUKAM (B,L,D)
After the breakfast at he local
house, walk to Pukam Village . First 2 - 2 1/2 hours of the walk will be ascend
up hill, then another 2 - 3 hours of mix of ascend and slight descent.
This is the main road of the locals from Lilibal area to come to Wamena. We may
meet some of them on the way, bringing pig, or agriculture product for sale in
Wamena. Stay at local house in Pukam. Pukam lies on the foot of the
mountain. We will held a hunting activity to the forest near Pukam village.
There will be 5 or elderly men wearing their traditional clothes and
traditional weapon.
DAY
05 : PUKAM – WET – LILIBAL (Yali Home)(B,L,D)
Pukam and the other villages on the
surrounding area are the homes of the Yali and Dani peoples. Many peoples came
from the cross marriage between these two tribes. But some peoples are pure
Yali peoples. The walk today will be about 5 - 6 hours. First 1 - 1 1/2 hrs of
the walk will be descent to Wet village, then mix of slight ascent and descent
till Lilibal. Stay at the local house in Lilibal. From here you can have a nice
view over Wet and Pukam village.
DAY
06 : LILIBAL – WET – PUKAM (B,L,D)
Lilibal lies on the edge of the
land, very close to the gorge and hills. It is the last village on this route.
Explore the local garden and life at Lilibal. Then on the appropriate time, we
walk back to Wet and to Pukam. Lilibal to Wet is about 5 hours and Wet to Pukam
will need about 1 hour.

07 : PUKAM – WUSEREM (B,L,D)
Walk back to Wuserem, passing
through the same trail we took before. Pukam to Wuserem will need about 5
hours. We will pass Wulik river, a river flowing to big Baliem River .

08 : WUSEREM – SOGOKMO - WAMENA (B,L,D)
Last walk to Sogokmo and then by car
to Wamena. Stay at hotel in Wamena. Time for wash, laundry, etc.
DAY
09 : PIG FEAST AND WAR DANCE (B,L,D)
After breakfast, drive to Kurulu for
about 45 minutes. Then walk for few minutes to see the 250 year old Mummy and
also you may explore the traditional village around, or climb the Mili mountain
where salt pool exist on top. Here you will learn how the locals doing their
traditional salt process. Lunch served enroute. At noon, enjoy a local
performance such as mocked war and traditional Earth oven cooking. Today you
can be interacted with the local Dani people and learn about their way of life.
Late in the afternoon drive back to Wamena for personal dinner and overnight
stay.
DAY
10 : WAMENA – DEKAI (B,L,D)
By flight to Dekai, a small size
town to the west of Wamena. It takes us about 30 minutes flight. Dekai is anew
developed village to a small size town, after the recent self autonomy policy
in Papua. Roads, government offices, etc are started to built. Arrival in
Dekai, then check in to the small hotel in Dekai. This small town lies on the
lower altitude than Wamena. Dekai is the home of the Manimo tribe, a tribe
which is quite modern now. The flight is available only every Wednesday
and Friday only.
DAY
11 : DEKAI – LOPON – SUATOR (B,L,D)
Transfer by motorcycle to the small
traditional harbor on Lopon village, about 1 hour of rough ride along the
unpaved road. From Lopon, we will sail down to the south to Braza river, one of
the largest river flowing to the south joining other river to Asmat area. All
the way you will see the dense forest, peaceful surrounding, sometimes
encounter the other passing by boats. On the way we may stop at the small
villages which are belong to Citak Mitak tribe. This tribe built their houses
on the riverside make of wood shape, with grass roof. In the past 1980’s the
tribe were still naked, however, the opening of the access to their village has
changed their way of clothing. Now they wear short pants, but mostly wearing no
shirt. There are 2 or 3 small villages. Most of them still work as food gather,
such as fishing and hunting animals. We will sail down to the south to a mid
size village called Suator. 10 – 12 hours required from this boat ride.
DAY
12 : SUATOR – YAWOL (B,L,D)
The village of Suator has about 200
occupant. Their houses are built on stilt, along the river bank area. After
breakfast at this village, we will walk to the hinterland to Yawol village.
Yawol is about 4 or 5 hours of easy walk under the canopy of the forest. Beside
the forest, we will be passing through some small river, sago forest, and
abandoned houses. There usually 4 or 5 Koroway we can meet as this village.
Stay either at their land house or in tent.
DAY
13 : YAWOL – HUNTERS HUT (B,L,D)
After breakfast with the host
family, we will proceed to walk to a jungle where the Koroway usually hunt
animals. The jungle is between Yawol at Lebilagi village, about 8 hours walk.
But we will not walk to Lebilagi today. Koroways are semi nomadic peoples, they
stay in one village for only 2 or 3 years, until their tree house is rotten or
termite eaten. When they do not have food, they go to the jungle for hunting,
or gathering forest crops. They eat most of the creatures they found. They pick
all fruits or any edible plants they found on the way. Tonight we stay at the
hunters hut. The local hunters are staying at this temporary house during their
hunting time.
DAY
14 : HUNTERS HUT – LEBILAGI (B,L,D)
Today we walk from the hunters hut
to Lebilagi village, the last Koroway village. Compare to the other Koroway
Village we found before, there are about 10 houses of Koroway we have here. We
will be passing some lowland forest, small rivers, as well as some temporary
local hunters hut. If we are lucky, we may meet the locals on the way to the
jungle for hunting, or fishing nearby the river. The walk today will be about 4
hour to this village. Stay with the locals at Lebilagi village.
DAY
15 : LEBILAGI – SUATOR (B,L,D)
Last day walk from the stone age
village to the modern Koroway world. We may spend sometime in the morning to
comprehend the locals daily life. Before noon time, together with our local
porter, walk to Suator village. We need about 4 hours in the jungle. Arrival at
Suator village early afternoon. Stay at the local stilt house.
DAY
16 : SUATOR – ASMAT VILLAGE (B,L,D)
After breakfast at the local stilt
house, then other oat from Asmat village will pick us up from this village. We
may spend about 8 or 9 hours on the motorized canoe. Sail downriver under the
shade of the tree. Great experience to comprehend the floral life along the
river bank. Mangroves, sago tree, and other swamp plant type are thrive well
all the way. We may also meet the locals paddling their boat down or up river,
fishing or move from one village to the other. The river we are sailing through
is the main “highway” in the hinterland. Arrival in the afternoon at Asmat
village, and stay at their long house.
DAY
17 : ASMAT CEREMONIES (B,L,D)
To accomplish your adventure to Asmat, the Ceremony demonstration will be held at the village to make more enjoyable trip, such as ritual songs with drumming also canoe racing and Mbist pole.
DAY 18 : ASMAT VILLAGE – AGATS (B, L, D)
Before living the village there is several art collections for your home souvenir. Walk to motorized canoe a sail to Agats. Lunch served enroute. In the afternoon you may walk around of Agats, the sub District of the Asmat region & also visit museum in Agats which is worth to do. Stay & dinner at Asmat Inn of Agats.
DAY 19: AGATS / EWER – TIMIKA (B)
Fly Ewer to Timika. Overnight in Timika.
To accomplish your adventure to Asmat, the Ceremony demonstration will be held at the village to make more enjoyable trip, such as ritual songs with drumming also canoe racing and Mbist pole.
DAY 18 : ASMAT VILLAGE – AGATS (B, L, D)

Fly Ewer to Timika. Overnight in Timika.

20 : TIMIKA – AIRPORT (B)
Transfer to the airport and then fly
back to..
